Installing solar today is becoming a ‘no-brainer’

There has never been a better time to install a solar panel system on your home in QLD.

Solar panel products have never been so well priced due to the strength of the Australian dollar, and the oversupply of panels due to the GFC and Euro crisis.  Solar rebates are slowly being reduced and it is unlikely the incentives in QLD will ever be this good again.

Combine this with electricity prices possibly set to double by 2015-17 (thanks to the carbon tax) and installing a solar system before the next state election is a no-brainer.  With the QLD Feed In Tariff currently guaranteed at $0.44c a kW/h until the year 2028, if you sign up today, that’s 17 years of benefits that you’ll receive.  However if you wait, you might miss out altogether.

Now is definitely a great time to get solar power for your home and it’s a fantastic opportunity to get ahead.  The problem is finding a solar company to trust.

You need to look for a company that has been in business a long time, a reputable and trustworthy company that provides high quality products and service.  Once found, just start by having a chat to them – you should see the benefits straight away.

Take advantage of Government solar rebates while you can

The Federal Government’s Clean Energy Legislation signals the arrival of solar power as a mainstream electricity source. The legislation, with its strong support for research and development of renewable energy technologies, will ensure that energy derived from clean, non-polluting resources like solar, will be a significant component of Australia’s energy supply.

Solar power, now widely understood and accepted, is likely to see less and less Government financial support at the household level. The solar objective has now been met – just looking at suburban rooftops will show you that solar has arrived.

The profile of solar and its affordability have both increased to a level where the government believes it will soon no longer be necessary to give subsidies and rebates. Future Government attention, under the legislation, will focus on advancing technology and clean energy industry employment, rather than household assistance to adopt solar.

Fortunately this hasn’t happened yet, and Queenslanders are well advised to take advantage of the generous solar feed in tariff, while the opportunity to do so remains.

Importantly, if you sign up for solar now, you will benefit until 2028, under the Solar Bonus Scheme.

If you don’t get in, you are unlikely to ever see such a deal again with solar.

New Carbon Tax Bills
(Source: CEC Newsletter)

The Federal Government’s clean energy bills passed through the lower house of parliament yesterday (Wed 12 Oct, 2011).  The bills implement the key elements of the Government’s Securing a Clean EnergyFuture plan announced in July 2011.

The legislation will now be introduced to the Senate, and the government is aiming for the package to be passed through the upper house by the end of the year.

There are 19 bills which form the legislation.  The legislation puts a price on carbon pollution, promotes investment in renewable and clean energy technologies, and supports action to reduce carbon pollution on the land.  It also provides compensation to some industries and businesses, as well as households through the tax system.

From CB Solar: Like it or not, this Federal Government has a Clean Energy Strategy.  It will mean higher power prices, as the government hit the fossil-fuelled based electricity generators.  We can reduce the risk to you, by explaining how a solar panel system can be paid off in around 4 to 5 years, leaving many households a future of cheap or no power costs.

Solar dream caught in gridlock
The Courier Mail, Peter Hall, September 24 2011

THE solar power revolution is in danger of stalling, with the State Government admitting the electricity grid is failing to cope with it’s green vision.

Energy Minister Stephen Robertson confirmed new applications for rooftop solar systems were being rejected in areas where Queensland’s high uptake threatened the safety and reliability of its network.

Thousands of homeowners hoping for promised power savings of up to $540 via a 1.5kW system are in limbo, with those wanting larger systems even being asked to pay more than $20,000 to help cover local upgrades.

Energex said the state’s electricity network since the 1950s had been designed to deliver power from the station to the home and the voltage now heading “the other way” was causing a huge dilemna.

Carbon Tax won’t hurt, except on power bills
The Daily Telegraph ,Gemma Jones, September 19 2011

THE price of basics such as milk and other dairy products will rise
by less than 10c a week under the carbon tax, the federal government claimed
yesterday as it moved to calm fears the controversial policy will hammer
household budgets.

Treasury modelling also predicted meat and seafood to jump by just 10c a
week, along with fruit, vegetables and alcohol.

Takeaway food and restaurant meals will cost an extra 20¢ a week and rent an
extra 40c.

Power bills will rise the most at $4.60 a week, or $239 a
year.
